Victor Zsasz is a DC Comics villain, primarily known as a serial killer in Gotham City. He first appeared in Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1 (June 1992).
Zsasz, before his descent into madness, was a successful businessman. However, after losing his fortune and experiencing a profound existential crisis, he became convinced that life is meaningless. This led him to believe he was "freeing" people from the burden of existence by killing them.
A defining characteristic of Zsasz is his method of marking his body. For every person he kills, he carves a tally mark onto his skin, covering himself in gruesome reminders of his crimes. He possesses no superpowers, relying instead on cunning, psychological manipulation, and ruthless brutality.
